Check this out, some amazing images. But I don't know if I'm ready to go throwing my investment. :)

Camera Tossing

A quote from one of the photos: "Camera 'toss' photo from 2003. I dropped the camera while fumbling with an umbrella, hit the shutter as I grabbed for it, and then it bounced from the carrying strap. This was the result."

I've done a couple with my little Gateway.

Some awesome photos there. But I think I would rather try to get these results with Adobe instead of tossing my camera into a free fall.

Nice job. :) That's a good idea actually - I have an old Nikon Coolpix 4500 I could 'toss'. :)

I commented. I say we start a DPC camera tossing cult.

I like to simply move the camera around during a long or long-ish exposure (kinetic photography, which I guess camera 'toss' is a subset of)... easy to do and SO much easier on the nerves, I would expect!!

Here are some of mine (no compositional edits):

It doesn't give quite the same "circular" effect (unless you sort of flick your wrist, like the second picture) but it can be very interesting to do.

Yeah but there is something so liberating about tossing my $400.00 camera in the air. :) I made the circular effect by flinging it sideways.

Mine has dead pixels and I took over 10,000 exposures with it. It's well worn but served me well. I bought it new in 2003 for around $400.00, so that was a "slight" exaggeration. :)

My attempts:

FWIW, I kept it on the camera strap around my neck for #1, and for #2 it would only have fallen on a very cushiony sofa. So I wasn't too worried. the only editing was some exposure correction and saturation +20.

I like the 2nd one better. No real reason, I just do.

Camera tossing would make a fun challenge. Has anyone suggested it yet?
I will give it a go later. Think i`ll use my nikon just incase i drop it, wouldn`t want to break my real camera :)

Camera tossing works well on my camera, due to the slow focussing in low light. Hit the shutter button once, and you have enough time to throw or spin it on the wrist strap before it takes a photo. I need to get it on a strap, since the fragile extending lens will get crushed if you catch the camera.

A fixed lens camera would be better for this.

Wasnt there a company that put a digital camera in a little ball? i forgot the name but it looked like a little round webcam but was a digital camera. You could throw, roll or what ever and the lens was kinda sunk down so it didng get damaged.
