I have been trying unsuccessfully to identify this flower. Can anyone here who is knowledgeable about such things lend a hand?

They look like wildflowers to me; they were densely packed in a very large garden bed about 8 feet in diameter, growing 18-24" tall. Purple. Central Virginia location. Full sunlight.

Added bonus - the red flower lurking in photo #2 - I would love to know what that guy is as well but I don't want to push my luck. Thanks :-)

The purple one looks to be lavender to me.

I'll agree that the purple one looks like lavender, and the red one is either a variety of coleus or amaranth.

Man - after a quick Google image search that does appear to be the culprit. Thanks!
