Ok, so I have to ask. Am I the only one that is getting frustrated with Photosig? It seems no matter how good an image is, or what I put up, I either get 0 critiques, or I get only one or 2. I know, its the whole "she is not naked, were not going to give you a rating" mind set there, BUT its getting really old. Iv been going there for about 3-4 years now and its just been in the last six months or so that it just seems to be more of a popularity contest. I dont care about points, All I want is feedback to improve my images. So, let me ask, am I the only one?
Note, id post a link to my sig, but i dont want anyone to think this post is about me trying to get more critiques there from you all, its not, I guess its more of a rant (mods, please move if its in the wrong section). |

I don't belong so I don't know - but, you only have three images on here for us to look at so you might want to post your link to photosig so we can see what you're talking about.
note= your comment about nudity is true on many photo sites - even on here : ( |

I hear what you are saying, but why keep posting at a place for so long if you aren't getting the responses, critiques or suggestions you are seeking? There are a lot of other forums out there where you can get all of this and more. Some might not have a ton of traffic, but then, it sounds like you are looking for quality rather than quanity anyway. This is assuming of course that it's not your images that are keeping people from commenting. ;D

i think the reason i keep going back is because old habits are hard to change. iv been going there for years, its hard to break the cycle, LOL.
As for only having a few images here, its hard for me to get out, and shoot images just for the contest. there are times when i do make it a point, but between work, the kids and school, sometimes its rather difficult. note, im not posting the link here to my sig, because i dont want to 1. feel like im spamming or 2. begging for critiques.

I agree with steveh552 regarding photosig's changed environment. I, too, have been a subscriber there for more than three years. The critiques there used to be great... from outstanding photographers. I would sometimes get 10 to 15 critiques on my better images. And, I'd always get three on even the mediocre images.
But now, there's a lot of petty nonsense, or absolutely nothing. I've stopped submitting photos at photosig.
There were also two incidents where I was posting an architectural shot of a stone chapel in the mountains. Every time I put up an image, a member with an obscene name would vote very low on the image. I think this person's mission at photosig was to knock down anything connected to religion. Anyway, I felt it amounted to a case of stalking on his part.
I complained to photosig administrators about the stalking. They reviewed his multiple trashings. The decision was the (unpaid) member was entitled to say whatever he wanted.
Bottom line: There was no protection for me against a bad character. I've not been back to photosig since.
One final comment about photosig: I would occasionally put up a landscape or wildlife image... only to find it located on the new images page between a full frontal nude male examining his organ and a topless&bottomless female in a suggestive pose. I'm not a prude, but it's sort of tough to have a serious photographic effort sandwiched between the such "not soft" porn. |

Ahhh pornosig... fun to browse on lonely nights, but not when I'm seeking artistic enlightenment.
