We(My husband, kids and I) are going to be moving very soon. We have a bit of flexibility in where we go, an hour or so radius from the eastern most part of the georgia/south carolina border and we have no idea what places are good to go to and which are not. any info. would be helpful in our descision making process. Any areas you love? anywhere to definately stay away from? we live in south georgia, i have nothing particularly against georgia we are considering savannah as well but just want to keep our minds open about it . we'll be renting a house. we own two now and It's just so stressful that once this one is sold I'm happy to only have one to worry about for a while. so if anyone has any rental agency info or a rental they are trying to rent out I'd be interested in that too. ;) Pretty please!

How close are you going to be to Charelston. Beautiful Area. I grew up in SC and that is where I would be if living there again. |

I think thats a teeny bit too far north for us to live but we'll be pretty close. close enough to go there on the weekend day type thing. |

Crystal-
Wish I could be of more help to you, but since I live in the upstate, I'm afraid I don't know a whole lot about the lower part of the state... :(
However, that being said, you could try PM'ing UNCLEBRO since he lives in the Charleston area. He would certainly know more about the lowcountry than I. Also, Palmetto_Pixels lives somewhere down-state, so he may be able to help you out as well.
Hope this is helpful!

yeah i'm into any of those choices. my husband travels to several different cities but Beaufort is the furthest north. its doable to go above that but doesnt make too much sense drivinf time wise. hilton head would be very central to all his locations though. Have you been there before? did you like it? |

I've been several times and enjoyed it. That being said, I can't really give you any information on it as my stays have been brief. A good friend of mine lived there for a while and we are getting together tonight so I'll see what info I can round up for you. |

Talked to my friend last night and while she said she really enjoyed living on Hilton Head if she now were chosing to move to SE SC she would move to Beaufort. One of the main problems with Hilton Head she explained was the traffic. She said many days it took her close to an hour to get off the Island due to Highway 278 not being the greatest. If Hilton Head is really a great location for you, she suggested you might look into moving to Bluffton which is a growing community just "off-island." Hope that helps a little. Good Luck. |

Sorry for the slow response... just saw this thread. I live in Florence which is a bit far north of where you're looking. Personally I think you're looking at a beautiful area. As far as SC is concerned, the lowcountry in and around Charleston, Beaufort, etc. is some of my favorite places. Whenever we vacation in-state, that's always where we go!!! Good luck on the move and if I can be of any assistance a bit farther north, just let me know.
As a side note, we should try to plan a SC GTG... I tried at one point, but there wasn't that much interest. |

Hey! I'm just now seeing this thread...I live in Charleston and am originally from the upstate SC. I read where Charleston was too far north, but I'm glad you'll be w/in driving distance. I agree with Beaufort. It's one of my favorite places in SC. Hilton Head is nice, just very expensive.
You mentioned your husband travels to several different places - where all does he go?
I hope I'm not too late in responding.
Feel free to send me a PM and we'll chat some more (or just email me at sweetmissbehaving@gmail.com). Do keep me posted on what y'all decide.
