So, I was really chuffed, thought i'd recorded my first action. i named it, did the very basic thing i wanted to do - open alien skin, apply tri-x filter, save and close. woohoo!

but...

it's there on the action palette, with the three steps listed. when i open an image and apply the action, all three steps are highlighted very quickly, and it closes.

and - no nice grainy black and white. sad.

so, can i not use alien skins in actions? or, what did i do wrong?

any help would be greatly appreciated...

I've also tried to use Exposure in an action, and it wouldn't work for me. No clue why...
