I did a search on this (the new search feature ROCKS!) but still didn't find quite what I was after.

DPC, I need some advice. I am looking for software that allows me to batch-process the IPTC/EXIF data in a group of images. Most importantly, I am looking to add caption info with descriptions to news-type shots, and to add keywords to stock shots that will be recognized when uploaded to the stock sites.

My other requirements are that the software is safe, stable, and free (or relativly cheap).

I know it can be done in PS with an action, but I'm looking for something a bit less cumbersome.

Any suggestions?

I think IrfanView can do that ...
