I've been having to process my photos on a laptop for the past few months. I haven't liked the outcome, too inconsistent and difficult too control. I have an older 17" CRT and was wondering if any of you out there know if it is possible to hook a CRT up to a laptop? If so, is it easy or more work than it's worth?

There isn't a trapazoidal blue part with holes in it on the back of the laptop? If there is, just plug your monitor into that. Then you may have to hit the FN key and the key that activated another monitor source? But that all depends on the monitor plug type. There is a newer standard out now.

If you are on a windows laptop I am not sure look for a connection for a monitor plug it may not be the same plug so you may need an adapter. On my mac laptop I have a plug which is where I put the adapter and on the other end of the adapter is a regular monitor connection where I just screw it on.

If your laptop has the analog monitor plug you should be ready to go. If all the laptop has is a digital monitor port I believe you can buy an inexpensive adapter to use as to convert the digital to analog port so the monitor will plug in. You should be able to with little problem. AND yes if your laptop is a couple of years old or not the high end new ones the screen usually isn't much good for good photo work. On my Dell laptop that is pretty good, if I'm doing photos I hook up one of my good LCDs. Good luck.
