I just realized that almost all of my "best of" or "free study" entries are people...and have scored badly. The only one that hasn't been a portrait type shot was best of 2002, when I was doing much less people shots...and it's my 2nd best score ever!

I can't even say that people shots in general aren't well received because there are many which scored well and finished in the top 20. I think I just enjoy people shots so much, and just because I get the shot I'm going after doesn't mean others view it with the same satisfaction I suppose. They're not particularly "polished" looking, so I guess they don't score very well. I'm still learning a lot on this site, and sometimes I think these patterns in entry choices and in scoring can be helpful in determining what I like vs. what might score well.

I did get a favorite on my last entry, so that made me feel good. :)

It is a safe bet, however, that my next "free" entry won't be a portrait of any kind. Doesn't mean I won't share any - just not for an entry.

I've been going through some similar thoughts myself, and they can be very useful. It is neat to analyze things a little bit and see what's going on (and I find it interesting to read when others do)
