are we allowed to cut & paste elements from within our own photo?
move it around? distort it? |
I don't think there's extra rules on this challenge so the answer would be no. |
Extra rules: "Neither the 'major elements' clause nor the 'Text' clause apply to this challenge."
The major elements clause reads: "However, using any editing tools to duplicate, create, or move major elements of your photograph is not permitted."
To me, this implies that you can now duplicate, create and move major elements in your photo. It will be fun to see the results in any event. |
So not a photography challenge then. |

I think we need SC to clarify this, don't we?
Overall I see this will turn out to be a vote-fest next week :)
Submissions will obviously be interesting! |

Nope, more of a photoshop fest. At least it's only a side event to let the kids play. ;^) |

Agreed--but Shannon will give him a real run for his money. I can think of a few formidable composite-masters here.
Off to my old paper "jokes" file to dig out some faves. Thanks to SC for this theme, what fun it will be to vote it. |

As long as we're waiting for details from SC, do you guys think we could do Diptych / Triptych type entries? |

i'd put good money on that one being the first one the vast majority of us thought of...

oooooh, I wish the freebies could do this one. A really easy one would be my favorite "farside" cartoon. Mom comes into Billy's room with the doctor standing behind her (they are stick people) and she says, "I don't know doc, I came in and found Billy just all scribbled up like this." I'd love to try that one! but alas! |

Google "farside cartoons" then check the "images" tabs. There's lots there. |

I had a few comments saying this image reminded them of "Farside".
Hopefully I can come up with another one for this challenge..
I really like the humor challenges..

I'll skip this one, although I was/am a big fan of the Farside comic strips. They were hilarious.
The "no rules" and "anything goes" aspect of this challenge are for those who want to cut, paste, paint, draw, text and clone in. That's fine! That's fun. But, it doesn't have much to do with the photography I wsnt to do. I do respect those who are good at comic presentations...make us laugh.
There will be secret rules not revealed to most of the members, as there have been in several recent challenges. So, I'll avoid the frustration of being caught between the DNMC nazis and those who are really good at graphic arts.
Best wishes to all the participants! |

I think it's still only allowed to work from one exposure. So no overlaying other photos etc. I might be wrong though. |

DNMC nazis (heheh) be warned: If you don't understand the entry, remember some Larson comics were never understood. Even by Larson. So vote accordingly. There will be enough DQs to go around anyway.

Check out these galleries:
Worth 1000
Then view related galleries for more. Some people have way too much time on their hands.
I bet on scalvert for the blue in this one. |

So for this challenge you still have to use just one photo, correct? |

Challenges with descriptions like this one frustrate me. I'd like to shoot for it but there is so much confusion surrounding the rules (like the stdavidson one) that I don't know where to start. It's already Sunday afternoon where I am so I will soon run out of time to shoot before the deadline. I'll have to skip this one I guess :( |

Wow! This Challenge is the best, ever since I joined the site I hoped they'd do one of these, its just too bad my photo skills cant do it justice, never the less my entry is in! Im really hoping for a lot of entries. As far as the idear of the contest goes, I think remakes of Far Side, or Far Sidesque photos are both fine. Im actually excited to see what originals people do as well as how people take on the re-makes. Please everyone try to submit something! |

I actually went and bought a membership just so I could submit to this one. I've shot my entry but I'm still deciding on the title.
..and now that I've got the membership I think I'll extend it into a year long one if only for that [Update] button. |
