B & W mode where? In PSE, or in the print driver?

Have you tried a head cleaning cycle on the printer? Or print a test page?

oops - sorry, missed the second q

I tried a print test page - 4 different times after adjusting this and that... also tried "resetting the color management" thingy PSE told me to do...

don't know how to do a "head cleaning cycle"... I'm sure it'a a setting somewhere - just positive of it... ran out of things to check

Well, you could try printing the photo from Windows Explorer. If it prints in color there, you will know that the probelm is in PSE.

If they show up in color in PSE but come out in BW on the printer then its a setting in the printer driver.

When you go to print you should be able to go into the driver by clicking the properties button. It could be that the 'print in grayscale' box is selected (or something similar).
