OK guys, All last week I "blamed" my silhouette scores on dark monitors. I may be wrong, but I'm guessing that is why it got soooooooo many low scores. The number of 1s, 2s and 3s really surprises me. So I gotta ask - is this too dark on your monitor? Can you or can you not see the slight detail of the clothing? Anyone care to enlighten me?

i can see it but you know that because i commented on wanting the clothing removed. lol. im suffering the same fate in rule of thirds now. my pics proabably too dark for some monitors. but i still love it they way I see it.
edit: now that i think of it i'm not sure what your question is completely. i can see that there is clothing and the ruffled edges but no i dont see detail ON the clothing. hth

| i dont really see what you mean my by slight detail on the clotheing, but that maybe cause i dont see what your taking about cause it might be too dark. But by laptop screen isn't calibrated sooo, who am i to say... nice shot though |

| I don't see any detail on the clothing,. and I'm looking at it with a high-end Trinitron CRT calibrated with an Eye-One. |

I'm sorry to say that it's too dark on my POS monitor (which does not respond to calibration). However, I refrained from voting on that challenge, for this very reason.
From what I can see, it's a lovely image, though. |

My work monitor sucks beyond all suckage previously known to man, which is why I don't critique or vote at work, but looking at this on my work monitor, all I can see is a whole lot of black with a slight red outline off to the left, and if that was what I could see during voting I probably would have given it a 4. On my super spiff and properly calibrated monitor at home I gave it a 6, probably for meeting the challenge and being well-executed but nothing that really captured my imagination (probably a personal taste issue more than anything, so please don't take that personally.) Take it as an extreme example of what a crappy dark monitor can do to a score.

Well Cindi I am looking at this on a crappy monitor at work and it is VERY dark. I am sure you were marked down because of it. I strugle with the question of should i make it brighter for those with darker monitors or make so I like it on mine.
here are some of my recent ones that I think may hvae suffered the same fate.
 I can't even tell what it is on this monitor
 can barely make out any green on it.

| I can't really make out much clothing either. I also have a Trinitron and it's been calibrated with a spyder. |

I can make out that you're wearing lingerie and I can make out your outline. It looks like the right level of darkness on my monitor. But I didn't vote on this challenge! :)

I have a decently-calibrated monitor and I can barely separate the right side of the figure from the BG, let alone see any details otherwise. I think any monitor that actually shows this clearly is probably calibrated too bright and too contrasty to be nominal... On my monitor, if I autolevel the image it looks just right. Try autoleveling your entry yourself and see how much TOO bright it is for you; that'll show you the range here.

Thanks for the input all. Robert, I did autolevel and that's a lot brighter, looks okay on desktop LCD but not so good on the laptop. The red light is eating up the midtone light though, I should have used white light I guess.
