I'm going to be in Las Vegas and free during the day on 15SEP and 16SEP while my wife's speaking at a conference. Anyone with any suggestions on what to shoot and whether I should get a rental car to shoot outside of Las Vegas in the immediate (within 1 hour drive) vicinity? I expect I'll be doing some night shots on the strip, but what else is a must see/shoot? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hoover/Boulder Dam isn't too far away. Take extra batteries and your security clearance : )

I really enjoyed Red Rock Canyon. Go early in the morning or later in the evening.

I'd get the rental car and go to the Valley of Fire State Park.

You have so little time, you won't know where to start anyway.

The strip alone can keep you busy for a couple of days, some of the casinos/hotels take ages to just walk through, let alone take photos.

Red Rock Canyon takes several hours at a gallop.
I enjoyed Bonnie Springs, too. It's a "Wild West" town, complete with cheesy shows and a "hanging". It's corny, but fun.

Don't worry about running out of photo opportunities - you won't!

I'm not worried about running out of photo ops. I just want to maximize what little time I have, as I don't expect to be returning anytime in the near future.
