I just realized that I entered the wrong version of my picture for the "at rest" challenge. I entered the version which I was planning to print and that version has been spot edited. How do I go about removing it from this week's challenge?

Thanks, Dan

Sorry to hear that. You can request a DQ for your own picture for such a reason (illegal editing). By the way, what is your score so far?

I'd like out too.

I would like to remove mine too, just for the fact that people are saying my photo seems blurry or soft... when in fact.. the whole idea of the photo is supposed give a dreamy effect. So of course.. the less artistic people are giving me low scores. I am running at 4.5 right now.

Oh well...

oh c'mon. it's not like you're going to go to jail, get bad credit, or not get hired for a job just because you got a bad score.

pulling your pic out is like 'taking your ball and going home' because you arent winning.

stick to your guns and leave your pics in and try to learn from the experience.

While it's easier on the ego to remove a pic that is not doing well, it kind of defeats the purpose. We're here to learn guys, enjoy the process. there's a reason all our teachers in school gave us the correct answers after the test was over: so we could learn from our mistakes.

@ vince and renee - there's not a person in this site who hasn't been frustrated or discouraged by an entry that wasn't understood or judged the way we intended. Take it for what it's worth, and make sure you try to improve next time around. DPC isn't the gospel on good photography, it's a venue for sharing pix and opinions. don't let it get you down.

mmm....

Even if another beloved picture of mine is undergoing another "humiliation", I would not retire it from the competition(besides.. I stated quite clearly in the last one I posted that I shot it for myself only and I suggest to the other deluded users to think the same way..).

However..
I do not believe in the current voting system and as a result of that I did not vote in "Life", nor I will in "At Rest".

No polemic, I am just telling that I lost some specific motivation, while somebody else is losing their motivation in a different way..

I think it gives some food for thoughts. Just That.

Just so everyone knows, I am not pulling my picture because I don't like it or because my score is low (actually it's doing quite well). I am pulling it because I realized to late that it was the spot edited version of the picture that I intended to print and that is breaking the rules.

Thats pretty darn honest of you. As a newbie here I am encouraged by your actions!

I'm not pulling my photo either. I just had a "weak moment" lol. Oh so human : )

I was just being sarcastic... I really don't care about scoring. It is just a website. The point I was trying to make is, if you are going to critique a photo for being blurry, then you should think twice about why the photographer made it blurry. (Hence the title of the photo) It definitely was not a mistake. I wanted it like that.

But anyways.. its only a website.. not the Presidental Campaign. ;)

I actually had the opportunity to pull my 4.2 Freedom shot - someone requested it for DQ. I almost did, but .. whatever. I didn't. I wonder how many people have had this chance and taken it.

I'll admit that I didn't verify a pic that was suggested for DQ. I wasn't trying to get a DQ and don't know the person who asked for it. I didn't break any editing rules, but my camera was broken when I took took the shot. Technically I think that makes it legal although it is pretty much impossible for anyone else to get the same effect with their camera. I guess that makes it a gray area so I'm not really sure how the admin would've voted on it. It just takes a dang long time to upload original files on a modem so I didn't bother finding out.

I have emailed dpchallenge about removing my picture, but as of yet I haven't heard back from them and my photo hasn't been removed. Should I just wait for the moderators to get back to me or is there another way I can remove the shot?

Thanks, Dan

They'll get to it. Just give them a couple of days.

All of the furvor is interesting to me, and I can relate to it. This life challenge has gotten me the lowest score ever but i think i have learned the most from this one challenge. I agree that some kids, pets ect are not interesting but General's post showed me how to MAKE those subjects interesting.
We are getting caught up in the scores and those have gone down as the negativity goes up. It isn't as fun anymore for me but I still keep at it, because a. it forces my mind to think creatively b. it forces me to do something I love doing instead of playing warcraft c. I learn a ton from voting and viewing others pictures....
so with today's DPC, I take the best and leave the rest.
