Okay guys *sob*
This is my last attempt to try and solve the problem on the forums before booking myself into a mental asylum...
;P
My friend went to the states and bought me a Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 EX DG a couple of months ago.
Since the first day, I had an aperture value of 00 after a few shots. THe only way to correct this, was to screw the lens off and then on again.
It became progressivley worse.
I can't send it back to the states, as my friend lost the warranty, the slip and the order number from B&H where he bought it from.
So sending it back to the states is not an option.
I have searched the internet from A-Z to try and identify the problem, and the best I could find is that some guy in Japan is having similar problems with his 20D and his Sigma.
But he eventually sent it off to Sigma.
We dont have a Sigma here, unfortunately.
THe problem doesnt occur with any other lens on my body, so it must be the lens.
I took it to a repair guy the other day, but couldnt recreate the problem in front of him. (Typical Murphy) So he said, he could open up the lens and check the wiring inside, but cant guarantee that it'll fix anything.
{Sigh}
What to do? I am very sad because of this. When the lens works it's great, but it's become so bad, that it's been lying in the closet for a good couple of months, just so I wont have to deal with it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated..
:(

Did your friend use a credit card or a check that would leave a paper trail. In extreme circumstances it may be able to be looked up.

Even if it is looked up, I would have to ship the lens to the states, and pay for it to be shipped back.
It would cost me the equivalent of having it fixed here.
Although, this is my problem. I cant find anybody that knows exactly what's wrong with the lens! |

| I don't know which part of SA you live in, but in Cape Town there is Orms on 021 465 3573. They have helped me in the past by recommending specific repair people. Good luck! |

Something you can do yourself if you haven't already is to make sure the metal contacts on the lens and camera are clean and making good contact.
