I just got a 30D a few weeks ago and have finally downloaded some images from the camera to the PC.

For some reason, none of mys software will allow me to visualize any of the CR2 RAW files saved by the 30D. I can still see all my CRW RAW files that my old 300D created.

I can't get the new RAW files to show in PS CS2, Adobe Bridge or Microsoft Raw Image Viewer. When I try to open a CR2 RAW file in PS CS2 it gives me "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document". In Microsoft Raw Image Viewer it gives me "Failed to load the image!"

I need some help here.

Thanks

Try using the Canon viewer, not the Zoombrowser, that is in the software that came with your camera. I have a 20D, and the viewer is called EOS Viewer Utility. It's not great, but it will show them to you. The first time I shot RAW, I spent most of a Sunday hunting for the files.

it fixed the problem with CS2. Still can't see the images in Adobe Bridge though. I think Microsoft Raw Image Viewer is a lost cause.

Any other free software out there that lets you look at CR2 files?

Do a search for a program called Irfanview. It's a small fast viewer with some minor editing capabilities. It shows .cr2 in the extensions setup.

Hey dude,

I use pixort.com, quick and easy to sort through images.

Cheers!

You have to put the camera raw update in the file formats folder under Program Files/Common Files/Adobe for both bridge and cs2 to pick it up.

I wish I knew how to help because I love using that viewer. Don't give up on it - mine works just fine.
