I have the canon A70 and am looking to upgrade my zoom. Aside from the accessories canon offeres, are there any products out there I should consider? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Canon telephoto, which I'm pretty pleased with. I get a little noise, probably due to the smaller aperture causing the camera to use a higher ISO in the auto modes. If you like I can try digging out some good/bad examples of the results I've achieved. Let me know.

Other accessories I recommend - 2000mAh AA batteries. I've taken two sets on a 3 day trip and they lasted comfortably for all of it, which was ~450 pics.

Once you've got the 52mm lens adaptor a polarising lens is always nice.. I don't use mine too much (it rarely being nice blue skies here), but I get some nice results when I do.

If you could post some good/bad examples I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for the battery suggestion. I was looking solely for lens accessories, but thanks for the input!

Here's a few good quality ones (I think):

Also the majority of this gallery where using the telephoto:

Henbury Horse Trials

I'll try and dig out some of the poorer ones.

Look at the home page! "Off the Lip" was taken with an A40, with the Canon TC52 at full zoom. I only cropped a tiny bit around the edges.

Some other shots I've taken:

Lifeguard Tower 1
Lifeguard Tower 2
The moon (not great, but not bad without a telescope)
Some Palm Trees (not great, but look at the other shots in that gallery for a sense of scale)

Let me know if you want some more.

Paul: Those shots came a very well. Nice job.

Scott and Paul,

Thanks for the postings. The pics look very good. I've heard that other lenses designed for the A70 have very poor quality photos. The pics you 2 have are exceptional. Thanks for your input.

From what I've read, the Canon macro lens is more or less worthless, especially for the price. A decent set of diopters is a better investment for much less.

I tried the Canon wide-angle lens in the store a few weeks ago. It seemed pretty decent, and I was able to snap a couple of comparison shots. I can post if you're interested. I just don't think I want to spend another 90 bucks when I'm starting to look beyond my A40...
