A few questions about it.

What's it cost? I can't seem to find a retail price anywhere.
Is it worth it?
Who uses it and how do you like it?

Would you buy a copy of 4.4 for $50? I'm not selling, just trying to find out something about it's actual value before committing to spending money on it. I know NX is out, but I imagine this would save me a few bucks or more.

TIA

Someone gave it to me, and am not sure I would spend a lot of money on it. I use it to open raw and do some minor adjustments before I go on to PS CS.
If I am in a hurry, it's great, you can do some fast stuff there, faster than in PS (well for me at least :) ).
I imagine that the really good Photoshop users would say no, but it's just a guess.

The 4.4 version costed app. 100 USD or 150 euro.
It is not cheap, but it isn't expensive either.
I still use 4.4 and will not switch to NX (no upgrade price yet in NL, need to update the hardware first).
IMHO it is the BEST Nikon raw converter, best demosaicing (good color, least moiré). Downside is that it is extreme on the RAM and very slow. I tried to work with it on my decent laptop, but it took 10 minutes to convert a file to jpeg that had some anti-noise and d-lighting max quality done to it. On the pc it is much better, but the slowest converter there is. Can be annoying for batch stuff. Also I found that Adobe Camera Raw converts some images with challenging whitebalance better and it is also better when you want to recover shadows (Capture is better with retrieving highlights), but Adobe is worse with the moiré.

So, I use Nikon Capture 95% of the time and ACR 5%. Also have Rawshooter Essentials but that one handles the moiré the worst, so I actually never use it. The only other program that I would consider to use is PhaseOne CaptureOne, but version I want is expensive.

I use 4.4 and love it. I use it foe all of my RAW conversions and basic editing before exporting to CS2 for croping and advanced edititng.

Had the trial version of NX and wont be upgrading.

i use capture for almost evrything & rarely drop into CS
(mainly for dust bunnys, hard to DPC shrink /save 4 web, and experiments)
i probably will buy upgrade NX though i don't like its flow / i may get used to it...
