Okay I have recorded video (on my Sony F717), and it plays back fine in camera, but when I play it back on my PC, it has like 3 seconds of video, and then the rest is audio, say the clip is 1 minute long, it plays (windows media player) 2-3 seconds of the video, it shows that the video is only that long also, but the audio keeps on playing till the end, any ideas?? I upgraded my media player-- still the same, and all my movies previous I have saved play fine..

what kind of file is it? Depending on that, it might play better on another player like quicktime or something.

Good luck!

I have narrowed it down to a MPEG playback problem, nothing to do with the Camera, I updated DirextX to get a new install of the quartz.dll for MPEG playback. Now the video still shows the incorrect playback time but will actually play beyond that point.. (Example-- say the video is 1 minute long, it will show that it is only 5 seconds long, the seek bar will be full at 5 seconds but now the video actually plays all the way through, so I half fixed it I guess, but I'm still not 100% happy.

Anyone have any addition ideas, any MPEG codecs I should look for?

Note its an MPEG-1 issue not a dvd/MPEG-2 issue..

Thanks

Try //www.divx.com/

The DivX Player usually works for me on videos that Media Player won't play correctly.

Buzzrock you are missing a proper codec to play your file. First of all which ver of windows are you using, it looks like xp sp2 if you have installed WMP11 and have you uninstalled a media player lately. If so you may have un installed a codec you may need. Can you send me a small clip from your camera and I can tell you if it plays well on my system. PM me for my e-mail.
