Yeah, I know she's not old. We've just shot together before.
In the last batch of images I shot I got feedback (on another site) about white balance so I pulled out my oft-overlooked One Shot target from Ed Pierce and tried using it to get a good white balance. I don't think they're completely right but they do seem a little better.
Any comments/critiques welcome.
WARNING: the images are 1024x768 in dimension
Technicals: The two images on white paper were shot with a single strobe on the model and two lights on the B/G. The one on black paper had a single strobe on the model with multiple gobos to ensure no spillover and a single strobe at very high power on the background (it needed more power or perhaps a tighter comb (I used a 30 degree).
Thanks,
Kev

well, int he first one she looks like shes about to fall out of that chair but i read your reasons so i didnt bring it up. the second one is perfect. i love it. so much so that as soon as i'm done typing this im going to add it to my favs. the third one os good lighting and comp wise but her expression is odd. hth i'm no expert at studio shots though. |

FYI, DPC's uploading software resizes things so the longest dimension is 800.
That resizing probably also changes the file size. Look at the image page, and you'll probably see an original file size and the "medium" file size. Something like this:

well... those are awesome. You somehow managed to get a perfect balance between sharpness and exposure, great job. Love the second one, the lighting is fantastic.

Hey thanks all for the comments.
Gary, the lighting balance you wrote about is something I'm exploring more lately. I definitely see the effect but achieving it takes some work. Wish I could have made it over for the workshop this summer as I'm sure just a few days with you, Nasti, Pedro and others would help me see much more in my work before I start shooting. As it is, I'll keep slogging along trying these changes. I'm looking to put in a ceiling-mounted hairlight but I may be lured into buying the ringlight first.
Thanks again everyone. I think the chair shot is a concensus with her "falling out". I'm just going to have to purchase another adult-sized chair like this one.
