To go along with my 35mm SLR post, somebody talk to me about film and negative scanners. Are they worth the time? Are they any good? Is a person better off to go to a photo lab and just have images put on a CD and not even mess with the negatives?

I picked up a used Coolscan IV a little while ago & amazed at the quality (2900dpi) scans
I could never get as good (or even close as easy ) to copying with a camera

that said -- VERY SLOW & still time consuming
but you cna get a 75meg TIFF from a colour slide ...
