I would like to see a new feature of the site that would allow me to sort a photographer's portfolio by lens, camera, aperture, shutter speed, etc. This way I could learn how others are using the equipment I already have (or plan to buy), which interesting shots are taken with wide open aperture, and which - stopped down, at what shutter speed, etc.
One way of doing this would be by generating a table with thumbnails of *all* pictures from one photographer's portfolio, and have all the shooting data listed as columns in that table. Clicking on a column header will sort the portfolio by the corresponding parameter. Pretty much the same way the portfolios can be sorted by Title, Collection, Date Taken, etc.
Another way would be by having implicit collections: that should be easy to split the collection by equipment used, but splitting this way by shooting parameters should be harder, since there are too many possible values for aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. |
