You can read or skip the story, but what I need to know is how to remove the bright green (reflection?) from a dogs eyes?

I'm having a terrible, stressful day and have a terrible headache. A family member called and asked if I could run over real quick (20 minute drive) and take pictures of their dog because they are taking him to be put down. Long story short - the dog has cancer and is in bad shape. He bleeds out of his eyes, ears and mouth constantly. OK, I feel bad (even though I offered before to take pictures for them and they said they didn't want pictures of him in this shape). I run over. They want to be in the picture with the dog. My uncles wife won't stop crying, my uncle can't bend down right, the dog is excited because he thinks he's going for a drive (which he loves). And they are just in a really awkward place to take the pictures. I end up with 4 really crappy photos and then they have to go. SO, how do you get rid of the green glow in the dogs eyes? I want to try to make at least one of the pictures halfway decent for them. And would anyone be willing to look at the pictures (really not pretty) and help me out with editing? Thanks!

here's a sample of what they normally look like...

One way in PS is to make a new layer via copy, then using the lasso tool or elliptical marquis tool, zoom in and select one iris, hold the shift button and select the other, but doesn't have to be very exacting, as anything outside of the iris can be returned to normal later. Then a few things can be done at this point. It can be desaturated, hue shifted, contrast/lightness adjusted to name a few. Once satisified, click again to deselect, then using a small, soft-edged eraser, erase back in what you didn't want changed, and flatten.
One method of reducing red-eye for instance was to use the sponge tool and desaturate, then using the burn tool, darken slowly. Green eyes are similar.
There is an action on atncentral's site called Demoneye Remover (near the bottom) of the page if needed to sort of automate this manual process.

it's really not that bad... since the eyes are pretty small in the photo, you might just be able to paint them black and then add some catchlights in them. bless that poor puppy's heart. i'm sure he's in a happier place now.

Here is a quick one.

Also...is his nose and mouth naturally red as in the photo?

Oh...I see in the story now...she said I didn't have to read it..that's how I missed the cancer part....

EDIT: If you can send me the full sized picture, I'll fix it up as best I can. PM me with the file.

Ken, I can't send the file in a PM. Should I send it to the email you have on your profile page? If not, PM me an email address.

Also, a quick opinion... Do you think I should go with black and white so all the blood and stuff doesn't show? The nose is the worst because it is basically raw meat.

I received the files and did not edits. I didn't see this message until it was too late. Let me know if you want me to fix up his nose!

I'm not sure. What would you do? They are used to seeing the dog this way as he's been fighting the cancer for about a year. Though to the average person, it's pretty offensive. They want to hang these on their walls. He's one of their children.
