woo hoo, my photo isn't from a signature scene in the movie so googling it won't show exactly where its from, but I am happy with the result.

Having been out of DPC Challenges for a while due to lack of time job hunting / relocating and moving home I have noticed that there are several teams around. Whats this all about and how does one join one?
Thanks
Michael

Those are WPL2 teams. the WPL2 has been going for a while now so I believe people arent allowed to jump in at this point but I think they are taking names for WPL3. not sure when it starts but a quick search should pull up some useful info for you.

You have rated 100 of 100 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 88 images (88%) in this challenge.
Funny how sometimes you just can't find something to really say about a photo.
I had to look up a large number of these films on IMDB even to find that they really were a film at all. Some photos I just didn't get at all, and there's at least a couple of really good photos that just don't meet the challenge, which is a shame.
Well done everyone though, some great photos here. |

Yeah, I'm not doing too well either. Apparently no one remembers that sometimes there are remakes. I chose a scenic similiar to a scene from a remake and got a comment that it is not the original character. It isn't. It is from the remake. Oh well.

This would be a difficult challenge to vote...
Personally I've not watch all the movies that's listed..
This would be tough.. any thoughts? |

I gave quite a few the benefit of the doubt after looking them up on www.imdb.com and seeing what google made of the films in google images.

Is it really THAT important? I got one comment "correcting" my already-correct movie title. Can't we just vote on the pictures? :-/ |

Depends on how important you consider meeting the challenge to be, I guess.
Personally I'd rather not give a perfect score to a perfect photo if it doesn't meet the challenge, otherwise you're just having a free study every week. |

Correcting the title is not important... I would like to comment on the photo as it is.. Can I give all photos the benefit of the doubt that it does represent some scene? Seriously.. I would like to comment on the photo as it is...
May I?

Are you asking me? You can do whatever you like, they're your votes.
"Correcting" the title of someone's photo is a little over the top, but that aside I'd like to see the wining photos meeting the challenge. So I tend to deduct a few points if a photo doesn't seem to do that. YMMV. It's a free country. |

There were several that looked liek the movie posters rather than a scene but that didnt bother me any. I though there were some really impressive and well executed entries here. Normally I go back and adjust my scores and comemnts later on in the week but we leave tomorrow with no interent for 10 days so I must cram it all in today. I hope to leave more comments this evening. |

I didn't have the time or resources to enter this challenge, so I tried my best to be fair and forgiving. However, having said that, I found a surprising few entries that actually met the challenge. The description was very clear...recreate a scene from a movie. Frankly, I was surprised to see so many people take liberties with what was an uncommonly precise challenge description. |

Agreed. I've only seen a handful actual scene recreations here. Most are pictures of a character from a movie or a landscape that looks similar to one from a movie but has no people in it. That, to me, does not meet this particular challenge.
Also there are a lot of films here I personally have never heard of. I'm afraid that will end up costing points. |

For one... a landscape of a movie is very difficult to recreate unless you are shooting at the exact same location... same weather conditions etc... I think what is most important is costuming, composition and posing.... That being said.... I took a still shot from the movie and recreated it pretty closely... pose, costuming... composition and crop... but the comments are to the effect that it would have been better if I had changed one or more of those things.... but to me, that would have been DNMC.... cant win!

Hey man, that would make this challenge 'DPC Theater' - only without the title constraints.. :P

I myself didn't do an obscure movie, but yikes I wouldn't dock people just because I don't see enough movies. I'm either refraining from voting on those or letting the image inspire my imagination. This was a tough challenge to get a do-able idea for, AND it's Basic Editing, aaarrrrgh. Have a little compassion ;-) |
