The new Nilon had a reciever in it's flash which makes you have to ability to setup your flash wirelessly accross the room and shoot from the camera on the other side of the room and it works like a slave.
Is there anything I can add to my Olympus FL-50 to use it like that? Something like a hotshoe which I can put on a stand on the other side of the room and when I trigger an IR on my camera it signals the fl-50 to fire?

There are IR slave devices you can find, but they aren't terribly reliable in mixed lighting conditions. And if you're shooting at an event with other photographers, their flashes will trigger your slaves.
The best wireless flash/camera trigger devices are Pocket Wizards. They're not really cheap, the new model acts as a transmitter or reciever and costs about $180. But, they're extremely reliable, have different channels you can use so as not to interfere with other photogs, and have a huge range (I think ~1000ft).

There are also some radio slaves circulating on ebay that are much cheaper, but the saying "you get what you pay for" is as true as ever...
I'd rather make do until I can afford the good stuff rather than get frustrated and miss a bunch of shots because I used a $30 flash slave set.
