Thanks, I'll have to try that on my D70. I suspect that you only would use some sort of magic tape like Scotch only. Might I try duct tape in case I get a moose stuck to my sensor here in Canada? They are heavy after all. ;-)
I appreciate your insight. |

Maggie, package up your 5D and send it to me. I'll take care of cleaning the sensor for you. It may take 9-12 months, but it'll be really clean when I send it back to you. |

Scoch tape only for sure - it works a charm - like deapee I've done it 15-20 times and it works wonderfuly. I get nervous now when I hear people talk about draging a wet brush across their sensor and scratching it.

Scoch tape forever. It just saved my camera, after a swab crash.

The rocket is good, but some of the others may not be so good. The Huricane was reported to blow some sort of crud or goo onto the sensor.
I hope your son doesn't get too creative with your rocket--I can imagine my son using it to drink chocolate milk. What's worse is that I can imagine my wife using it to clear out the baby's stuffy nose... |

What's a "swab crash"?

When the swab completely layer the sensor with lines and spots. And you can even see lines on thumbnails. Beside me I have 12 used swabs, and I ended up using air and some anti-static brush. And the more I tried to clean, the worse it got.
The tape saved me.

the blowers work fine and are safest. the last thing you want to do is touch your sensor unless absolutely necessary. the tape method although a little crazy, not as crazy as the swabs. Both those techniques should be last resorts.
Use the blower. take the lens off, on canon there is a sensor cleaning option in the menu that will lock up the mirror. hold the camera upside down when doing it so the dust has somewhere to fall out to.
As dumb as it may sound, if you don't turn your camera so the lens is down, all you will do is blow the dust around in your camera.
I am on 10,500 shots and I have only cleaned my sensor once. |

see the products link at //www.copperhillimages.com
they sell a sensor brush for $25 incl shipping that works very well, or ou can get more heavy duty including the pec pad and eclipse fluid (in case you sneeze on your sensor or something and need to clean more than just dust LOL)

What if you turn the tape backwards on the swab? or use double sided scotch tape and just dab it where the dust is?
A flat swab the size of the sensor with the double sided tape on it. |
