I don't know what it's called in the US or even if you have them over there.
But anyway, we did our first one this morning. Basically got all the stuff from the house that we didn't need, put it into the back of a van, and went down to the church car park to the weekly car boot sale and sold it all!
It's amazing what people will buy.
It's even more amazing how much money you can make from things that were sitting in the attic gathering dust... ;-)
Translations :-P
boot = trunk
car park = parking lot
attic = loft |

We call it a flea market. Or, if you do it at home, a yard sale.

People don't have yard sales over here. And we have flea markets as well, but they're normally just stalls without any cars/vans (craft stalls and fortune tellers mostly!) |

We have church bazaars, too... sounds like what that would be... |

The flea market here is an old Drive-In Movie Theatre, you pay $10 for a spot, you drive your car or van into your spot and either set up tables or put a blanket on the ground or sell right out of your vehicle. It is open every Saturday and Sunday. |

Yea and car boots are the things they stick on your car when you don't pay parking tickets. I thought you were selling those :) |

I'm glad to see that there's some other varieties of English on this board... Being from Australia, I'm constantly at a loss as to what is going on here... I rarely watch any American television or film, so I often get quite lost here at DPC |
