I was injured severely in 1996 in a crane accident. I broke my neck and back. Very bad. 5 spinal surgeries and more than 70 procedures on my spine. Well the judge finally rendered his decision. I was given 100% disability. I know this is hard to understand why I celebrate 100% diability but if you know our system you'd understand. I am a ligitemately severely injured employee and have been treated like a criminal. Someone faking my injuries. Well JUSTICE was served today.
I have been treated like a common criminal by this company and now I have won. THey tried to force me to settle for almost nothing then they denied all of my treatments and said they weren't responsible now because my spine is naturally falling apart. Failed back syndrome. Now mind you when this happened I was fresh out of the US Army I was with a Special Forces Unit and a Drug eradication team. PERFECT HEALTH. First month on my new civilian job and THWACK, chain, steel hook, giant steel ball instant broken neck and back. Now I can't play with the kids much and I'm on constant medication for nerve damage and pain. The only thing that holds me together is photography. I do a little law enforcement stuff on occasion when I can I shoot for the paper when I can but other than that I'm pretty wrecked. Now we go and try to settle the medical end of this. I know one thing I'm getting a D2xs and a D200 with tons of glass including a 300mm 2.8 VR anyway I just got the notice today I will keep you guys current.

I have only read this much and I have to say, right now, CONGRATS!!!!!!! I am so happy for you.

I'm going to read the rest of your post now. Just... this much excitement couldn't wait. :-D

edit: I read the rest. Oh my GOODNESS that is so horrible, what you've been through. I just can't imagine. (Your post, by the way, has given me yet another encouragement to finally post this.)

.... Oh my.

I remember.. I had a dream last night where I could see my skeleton (some sort of looking down on myself) and it wasn't a normal skeleton (well it was in the dream) - the ribs were basically all one bone.

And in the dream, parts of that bone, and others.. just sort of broke off. I was falling apart from the inside out.

Remembering the dream makes my heart go out to you even more, because I know my feelings in the dream were one *billionth* of the horror you have experienced.

Sad that what's right has to be such a F***ING struggle!

btw, should I keep quiet about your pole-vaulting hobby on weekends Nick?
