Following on from my thread earlier this week:
This One

I went ahead and bougt a Vivitar 28mm F2.8 manual lens with an M42 screw mount, plus THIS adaptor with "Push" ring.
I can see now what the push ring is used for... Auto only lenses would only work on max aperture without it. With the push ring, an "Auto" lens basically becomes a manual.

Anyway, I tried it out quickly last night and boy am I pleased!
For a total spend of £21.48, I have now got a lovely sharp 28mm prime, plus the bonus of a polarising lens, which I have wanted to experiment with for a while!

Are all these old manual lenses likely to be as sharp as this one?
Are there any brands that I should steer clear of if I want to get some more (Which ones were considered cheap in their day?)

I will upload a couple of samples after the weekend - My websites are currently maxing out my allowed space, so I need to do some re-organising!
