Since so many of you DPC'ers have photography businesses I was hoping you can help me out with something. I need help scaling pics.
Basically if I shoot an event and upload a few hundred pics to my Photoreflect site I want to customer to be able to choose any size pic. How do I ensure that it will print correctly? The file comes out of the camera at a 3008x2000 pixels and in something like a 10 x 6.67. Printing this in, say 8x10 will skew the pic. How do you guys do it? I can batch process through CS2 but is there a standard size where the customer can order a 4x6 AND and 8x10 of the same pic and they won't get a screwed up picture? |

| You have to prepare appropriate crops for each ratio of print you want to offer. It's very bad practice to force your print service to do this for you. It's a hassle, but somebody's gotta do it. Might as well be you. |

Really, your best bet for online order is to make sure to leave plenty of cropping room on the top and bottom of your composition for cropping.
Most dSLR cameras produce a 4x6 aspect ration or 8x12. So, you are looking at cropping an inch off top and bottom for an 8x10. Keep that in mind when shooting for portraits, so not to cut off anything important when cropped.
