We have this in quite a few spots along our fence in the backyard. I just noticed it yesterday afternoon while playing soccer with my daughter in the backyard. What is it?
oh and the red part on the plant is actually PART of the leaf, not a separate flower.

well shoot Bear, I thought if anyone knew it would be you!
I looked up poison oak thinking that might be it, but it doesn't look the same- unless there are different types and this doesn't look like anything I found online.

The orange part looks like a disease or nutritional deficiency.

| Take a piece to your local nursery. They are VERY helpfull when identifying stuff. Specially if its a landscape type plant. If that doesn't work, you could contact your state conservation department. |

Well thanks to a friend and his audobon book we found what it was. It's a wild poinsettia and this one is less common. The red part is not a disease, it's actually supposed to be that way.

I think the scientific name for this plant is "Smallorangeuspetalus biggreenisleafus" but I may be wrong.

I was thinking poinsetta but the leaves threw me. Good job!
