...are the rules for the 'Where In The World Is stdavidson?' challenge?

I just started voting on it and had to stop to get some clarification. My apologies if this has already been discussed. I've looked but not seen anything current regarding special rules for this challenge.

Nothing in the challenge description says anything other than 'Advanced Editing' rules apply.

I think I'm seeing composite images, duplicating of elements, etc...

Is this a no-holds barred type of challenge?

langdons rules

i thought they could add photos of him to their own images using the brush. isnt that what the flag was for?

In the end SC decided that we were allowed to use a steve brush - I tried but couldn't get the effect I was looking for so went with a straight photo.

Ok. Thanks for the thread link. Why wasn't this put in the challenge description as 'Extra Rules'?

The validation request rate is going to be pretty darn high for this challenge I'll imagine. :(

you are supposed to assume the photographer is following the rules when you vote. in addition, you are under no obligation to narc on every photo you think might not be.

Right. And since this is a light-hearted challenge, I would hope that everyone would just chill out with regards to the validations and nitpicking and whatnot and just have fun with it.

ditto....what they said....Hope people don't automatically vote low by assuming the rules weren't followed.

In the FWIW column...as I mentioned in the OP, I was seeing things in the challenge entries that normally aren't permitted under any of the existing rulesets. That's when I went and looked the challenge description to see if there were some special rules in place. Didn't see any, therefore this thread.

I would be surprised if I was alone in this train of thought. There are many others I'm sure that have missed the thread pointed out by Chinabun.

As for my method of voting/reviewing challenge entries I pretty much follow the rules when it comes to requesting a validation (which isn't that often BTW).

For the record.

From DPChallenge Challenge Rules:
Any registered user may recommend a submission for disqualification if he or she feels that submission has violated a rule. A recommendation should be made by clicking "Recommend this photograph for disqualification" on that image's voting page, and stating the specific violation in the space provided. You should then vote on the photo as if the rule was not broken, and leave the determination up to the Site Council.

Additional per DPChallenge - The DQ Process: A Voter's Guide

edit to highlight points of initial thread intent by underlining.

yeh i agree with this statement, thats why when you posted the thread i was a little confused as why you of all people were asking. It shouldve been put in the description since not all people read the threads, but too late now.

Well at least, being a fun challenge where we hope voters will relax a bit, at least if they don't, we can all relax about ribbons or placement.. :-)
