How do I get the RAW images off of my 20D? I shot a family photo shoot in RAW+L but only see the .jpg files. What am I looking for? When I go to the Digital Photo Professional tool that came with the camera, the RAW options are disabled.

The RAW options are disabled on jpg files but should be active for the RAW files.

What shows for the RAW files? A giant X with the filename below?

Download Rawshooter essentialshere while it's still free and available

It's a great RAW processing programme that's very very easy to use

I'm sure that'll sort out your pesky RAW files (and probably convert you to shooting RAW from now on)

If you are connecting the camera to the 'pooter with the USB cable, you'll only see the JPEGs unless you use the Canon software. A much better, and faster alternative is to get a card reader and use that for moving images to the 'pooter.

Good advice. Ive got a firewire card in my PC that I got for use with my canon GL2 camcorder. When I got my 30D and 8 gig CF card USB was painfully slow for a lot of images so I got a lexar firewire CF reader. Its very fast!! Well worth the $49.

exactly...all i saw was the jpg files. I have Digital Photo Professional and EOSViewer Utility. I can't seem to get the raw files off of the camera using USB cable. Any other tool I should be using to extract. I downloaded the above mentioned tool and will definitely check that out when I get ahold of the right files.

It was my impression that EOS Viewer was capable of getting the RAW files transferred. I don't have it installed currently, so I can't test it, however.

In windows explorer you should be able to see the connected camera (switched on) as a drive and all the files on the CF card.

A simple drag and drop to a new location on your hard drive then fire up Rawshooter (or other alternative RAW conversion programme) to edit

I was under the same impression but since im using CS2 with the new raw driver I never bothered installing the canon software.

I dont use the Canon software either, just the method I stated above but with a firewire reader instead of the camera connected

Your method will be successful with the RAW files... but browsing the camera using Windows over USB, you will not be able to see or transfer the RAW files.

thanks all,
I'm off to purchase a CF Card reader. Also saw the firmware was up to 2.0.3 and I was on 1.1.0. Any reason why I shouldn't upgrade?
