I seem to be lost

I have just calibrated my laptop LCD monitor with a sypder.. and well, I didn't see a speck of difference. :(
Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it should be. I have disabled adobe gama.

There does seem to be a differance when I open photos in photoshop however.. but I am not sure why.

i have also calibrated an lcd monitor which is connected to the laptop, and well, the colors look TOTALLY different on that. hmmm...

any help?

How do i know if my monitor is using the calibration?

thanks

Monitor set to factory specs first?

at the end of the calibration there should be a before and after comparison - do those look exactly the same?

SpyderExpress2 had a firmware not too long ago for color temperature not sure about your model also.

Are you getting that notice on computer startup that the profile has been successfully loaded into your video card? Can't remember the verbiage specifically (I'm at work). This is the Spyder2 by ColorVision - yes? Around $100? Just want to make sure I'm on the same page as you.

Photoshop may be looking for the custom profile and loading it, but your monitor may not be for some reason?

Just tossing some ideas out there...

Make sure Windows is using the Calibrated Color Profile:

To set Windows (XP) to a Color profile:

Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Display (or Start > Run... type in: desk.cpl and press enter)
On the Settings tab click the Advanced button.
On the Color Management tab, choose the same Color Profile that your editing software is using profile created by the spyder.

yeah, when the computer starts it says it has loaded the profile correctly

I have selected the profile created by the spyder. (the pantone colorvision spyder2)

not sure what else, or if anything else is wrong. It 'seems' like things are working, but the colors do seem off in photoshop. the most odd part i guess is that the crt screen and lcd screen look totally different.

so when you click the before and after picture, is there a differance?

For me, there has been a difference on every monitor I've calibrated so far, but not always a huge difference. So it's possible that this monitor of yours was really close to sRGB to begin with. You could test this theory by creating a new profile with a different calibration target, like one of the print ones which use a gamma of 1.8 rather than 2.2. If you don't see a before-after difference with that one then there's clearly something wrong.

if you're using XP you'll need the multi monitor colour support fix from M$
