I've added my first portfolio image. I've seen some great cat pictures on here lately so I thought I try to do something with my cat (Furface). This is what I've come up with:

I started from this image:

What suggestions have you got for me to improve on this? I am going to try and get some better shots to start from at the weekend in the sun.

I like it. Could be sharper though. What program are you using to edit?

I wouldn't crop it that tight but rather make the background more uniform. It shouldn't be hard to make it a solid color except where the pillow thingy is.

What a gorgeous cat!!

With cats photos, especially charcoal tabby's like Furface I've found it's getting enough light to have a reasonable shutterspeed.....that way you can get good focus on the eyes and fur. What were your exif details here?

Thanks. It was f/4, ISO 800 and 1/6 of a second. I didn't want to use the flash but the shutter speed was very borderline for inside at night I know. I'm planning to have a photo session with him this coming weekend in the sun (knowing him he will know and hide!)

Try early morning, later afternoon.....full sun could be a bit harsh....lots and lots of yummy cat treats :))

I'd love to see the results of your photo session.
