Couldn't find anything in the forums mentioning this, but I just found this tonight. My MBP just turned itself off awhile ago... no warning, battery was fine, but poof! Dead computer. I plugged it in and it started back up, but I immediately hopped online and found this...
Battery Exchange Details
Sure enough, my battery's on the "bad" list. Upon further research, I found out that the battery actually swells... I hadn't noticed, but when I felt the battery, it wasn't flat... there was a bulge!
Apple says it's not a safety hazard, but I thought it would be useful to any other MBP users on the site. :) It's free!

I got my replacement battery on Tue. after filling out the online form on Mon. Morning. The site says 3-5 days, so they are trying to replace them fast. I found out about it the same way you did, it really had me worried, and man does it run cooler now! If you have an MPB & your battery is on the list, do the recall, they send you the battery for free and don't want the old battery back until you receive the new one! |
