Folder colors, stars in profile lists of challenge entries, every single icon.

I've posted at least two threads asking about various icons, and each time I wait for someone to point me to the FAQ. No dice so far.

FAQ courtesy of MK

Yes, I've read MK's FAQ. Some of the best, snappiest answers I've ever seen. Actually, another site enhancement would be to either link to hers from the site's FAQ or just incorporate it.

None of her questions address icons, however. Unless I'm blind, or reading too quickly.

Care to enlighten me?

none of them are directed to the icons I was trying to be a smart ass with the big FAQ thing

Brad, I appreciate your trying to help; those are some of the icons, but still not all. Not folder colors, not stars in profile lists, etc.

Where'd you find that, anyway? Or is it something you keep?

Somewhere there must be a list of all icons ...

DPChallenge has all their ICONS in a private (non-accessible) folder. I guessing so another site can't have access to their Icons by copy/past.

OK, Brad. Very good. You keep those on your computer?

Now, I revert to my original suggestion that Langdon take your hard work and add it to the site FAQ. :)

Southern Gentleman, there's no protecting them from theft. Once they appear somewhere on the site, anyone can save them. Just like our photos.

Aren't the stars right there in his list - A top ten finish?

What other stars do you mean? Why don't you print screen the icons you don't know so others can know exactly what you're talking about to give you the answer?

Nah - I copied them from a previous post a while back, just added to it this time.
Just gotta' go on a scavenger hunt around the site to find em.

Yes you are right about that I just saying I think they put them in a private folder to keep for someone having access to them all at once.

Most all icons on the site will tell you what they do when you hover the cursor over them. ;)

Better than having to go find a central list -- the purpose is built in each time the icon is used.

Not in Firefox they don't.
At least not with version 1.5.0.6 on a W2000P OS.

No? Shame, FF was showing such promise. :P

Loaded it up and your right. IE doesn't have text for all icons, but FF didn't show any that I tried. I would hope there is an option somewhere that could be turned on though.

BTW: Nice work putting the list together -- get in touch with mk to add it to her FAQ and you won't have to keep copying it: :D

A scavenger hunt thru the site sounded like fun so here are a few icons you missed.

--- user related ---
= male registered user
the icon for male you used is for the androgenous registered users.

Forum icons
--- general ---
= search the forums
= view watched threads
= shortcut to posting a new thread
= Forum with new threads
= Forum with no new threads

--- for forums ---
= Post a new thread in forum
= go to first unread post in thread
= go to last post in thread

--- in threads ---
= Report a post to SC
= Reply with quote of post
= Edit one of your posts
= Post to thread

--- while posting ---
= adds bolded text to post
= adds italics text to post
= adds an image in post
= adds a hyperlink to post
= adds a thumbnail link to portfolio image
= adds a think to a user's profile

If you need a key for these icons, then maybe internet forums aren't the place for you. ;)

On second thought, if people need a key for these icons, maybe internet forums aren't the place for me.

Agreed -- just working toward completeness. :)

Okay, I finally have to ask. Are you, BradP, etc. linking to some repository of these smilies? Or do you all have them saved on your computer? I know how to insert an image into a post that's on the Web somewhere, but not from my computer.
