Hey all....
I have some experience with web forums but just about zero as a real photographer.
I had a Canon A-1 for about 20 years and loved it and then......
I bought a Nikon D70s.
What can I say but, OH MY GAWD!!!!!!
Anywho, I always kept my A-1 set on P for Professional and never really bothered to pay attention to any of the settings. I got some good shots here and there, but never really got involved, if for no other reason due to the cost of developing and printing.
I already have a good computer and printer and I am just having a blast being able to fix pictures right and left with photo editing.
I think I have a half decent eye and pretty good luck, so I think some of the stuff I do is okay.
I want to get better and learn.
So....
Here it is, I'm looking for pointers, info as to how to do the most basic of things, like figure out how sizing works, especially relative to resolution, and I'm looking to get the best from my camera.
I'm glad to be here and I am open to any comments on my meager but enthusiastic attempts at a portfolio.
In the meantime I'm having a ball here in Central Pennsylvania with my D70s.
TIA,
Jeb Boyd

First off, take a look at some of the tutorials available under the "Learn" drop down menu at the top of the page. Second, here is a link for a camera simulator that will help you better understand the relationship between ISO, shutter speed and aperture.

Hope this helps and have fun with your new camera.

I always thought, "P" was for "Program", meaning "automatic"...!? Sorry, if I was wrong, I only use Av, Tv and M settings...
Anyway, there are some really good tutorials on this site, check them out first. Then, ask more specific questions. I'm sure there are lots of people wanting to help you. |

Yes, it is, it was my feeble attempt at humor. 8>)

Thanks!
What I specifically want to know is how to size pics.
I am reading a tutorial now in the tutorial section on that subject.
