OK, so I've found a ton of good photo mags on the other side of the pond but they tend to be really UK/Euro based in their content as much as they may try not to be.
I'm looking for some good N.A. photo mags that aren't just buyer's guides. I have the camera, now I want some techniques and such to try out and have something more N.A. based in content.
Any suggestions?

the only magazine I currently subscribe to is Outdoor Photographer. Very good if you're into nature/landscape stuff |

That's really what I'd figured. I would have thought that somewhere there would be at least one on this vast continent.
Someone start one or something. I think we have enough talent and experience here to do it!

Rangefinder is a great one - Out of California, geared toward pros
Digital Photo Pro is another good one, great equipment info
If you join PPA you get Professional Photographer which is reason enough to join PPA - an outstanding magazine

Check this site out for cheap deals on magazines. At these prices, you could get a few different subscriptions for the price of one. I get a few listed there, and my favorite is Outdoor Photographer. Good articles when you look beyond the ads. American photo is a very nice magazine too, in a different way. |

Has anyone else had any experiences with BestDealMagazines.com? Wondering how much spam you get from them or if they sell your address/email address to other companies ... |

They do send me an occasional email on new specials, but it's nothing that you can't easily unsubscribe from. I don't get any other similar emails from companies that I haven't already done business with, so I'm guessing that they don't sell email addresses to spammers. |

judging from the price they have on Shutterbug magazine you are only saving $1.00. I would say just subscribe to each individual one.

American Photo Magazine Good balance of Art, Hardware and Technique.
Rangefinder Magazine (I get it free...they had a promotion last year where they'd send you a free subscription) Interesting portfolio showcase, hardware, art, technique.
Photolife Magazine More emphasis on the artsy side of Photography.
The 3 Photo magazines I read regularly in addition of National Geographic of course... ;) |

Somebody put me onto Rangefinder a while ago. Still get it delivered to my door at no cost. Good mag!
Photolife is another that I've stumbled across too. It's published in Canada even!
American Photo looks like something good too.
I'm wondering now about online resources. Teaching/tutorial sites. Online classes. That type of thing. The "Do this, try this and see what happens" type of thing. I'm still shooting in the dark alot (ie: winging it) when it comes to setup but the more I read the more I have bouncing around too.
Oi...

I'd recommend either "American Photo" or "Popular Photography" or both. |

As a Brit (who spells things properly, maybe :-) living on the East side of the pond I subscribe to the digital version of American Photo, which I have to say has the occasional article that makes me stand back and gasp. I also subscribe to the paper edition of Shutterbug, which I don't think is as good as American Photo. |
