Today I experimented with RAW for the first time... I tried to download as always.. I couldnt and I founded the way with the Zoombrowser... Then I tried to open them in photoshop and again I couldnt so I found the Digital photo pro... and I coverted one of the pictures to jpg..
The thing is that I dont know if the quality of the picture is suposed to change when converted to jpg (my RAW looks better than the converted jpg) also, while looking at the exif data on the jpg it says it has been modified, so I would have problems in case of validation... So.. what do I do?

If you need to submit proof, you submit the RAW file. As you've found out, the converted JPEG is no longer an original. Keep your RAW files for any challenge entries (I recommend keeping the RAW file for all your keeper" shots anyhow).
When converting to JPEG, the converted file should look just like it looked in the RAW conferter (DPP in your case). If not, you're probably changing color spaces unintentionally. make sure the camera, conversion software and editing software are all set to sRGB.

No, I am converting from RAW to jpg in Digital Photo Proffesional, a program that came with the drivers of my canon... The thing is that the jpg is a little bit less sharp that the RAW file...

You can convert to TIFF, and you won't lose anything.

It's doubtful that the JPEG compression is why she's seeing a difference. It's *really* difficult to see the difference between a TIFF and a high-quality, 1st or 2nd generation JPEG. A sharpness difference may just mean the DPP sharpening setting must be tweaked a little, or USM applied in PS (usually the better route).

I am just learning to use raw also. I think jpg's only have 8bits of color info and the raw image has 12 bits. I have not been able to see the effect myself but i am told it does make a difference.
Let me know what you find out

Just courious why are you not opening it in cs2

Actually I see the diference between the pics when I see them as thumbnails togheter... the RAW one has a little bit more color and sharpness.. When they are opened at real size is really hard to notice (just the change of colors...) it must be the 8-12 bit thing..

CS2? It`s a new version of photoshop CS? (as you may have notice... I dont have it! jaja)

Don't quote me on this, but I don't believe there is a version of Adobe Camera Raw for CS that supports the 350D.

Yep, its an easy/free download from the adobe website - not sure what update number you need but it makes learning about RAW really easy if you only have to use one program. When you get really into it you might decide that you need a third party raw converter to get more out of the file but for 99% of the time all you should need is photoshop. IMO
