Anyone used these?
Here's an example

Basically their lens hoods made of rubber, and so can collapse down or extend depending on the lens your using. I'm thinking of getting one to share between my kit 18-55mm lens and the 75-300mm lens.... any thoughts?

a friend has one and i've seen him use it against glass, like at an aquarium, to block all reflections of light. works well.

I use one on my Zeiss 75/1.5 and it works well. the only advantage of a "hard" hood over the rubber one is the additional physical protection for the front element given by the hard hood.

I have one for my Canon 50mm 1.8... i really like it....although i am still very careful with it because it does not give me the security of a hard one. I still love it though.

I have two that I've used. One has a telephoto and wide setting so you can use it on a zoom lens. I like them better then hard hoods because they easily fold back for stowing your camera.

I've got 2 or 3 laying around. They are probably one of the most useful things i carry.

Got lots of them and love them. Some problems if you have other filters on as well, but workable. These can also be obtained at B & H for around $5:

General Brand
You have to go through the list to find your sizes. the above links are just two examples.

I love them, and have them on all my lens. I do a lot of shots against glass and with flash and it makes a huge difference.
Disadvantages - depending on how tight your lens fit in their cases the rubber can pull on the sides eventually causing the hood to tear (Just happened on the the one I kept on the 70-200, but it lasted over a year)
One of the first things I order when I order a new lens is also to order a soft hood for it.
