I was thinking about creating a business card for myself containing a portrait of a child. Any suggestions on how to make it professional?

I'd say keep the design and colour scheme simple. Don't use any wacky fonts either. Put the picture on one half of the card, and your details on the other. Use a black or a white background

I'd disagree. I've seen some really good business cards discussed on DPC that break your rules that are top quality...

I like the front of my card to be text only (all business).... but there is an image on the back.

Well, rules are meant to be broken... though you should have a reason to break them...
