The colors in the sunset are a little dark but very intense. I have viewed the through photoshop and by loading directly into my browser and everything looks ok. After uploading to dpc the colors appear faded. Any ideas what I am missing?

How are you saving it for the web? It may be that you're simply saving it at a lower quality than you may desire. Try making the photo smaller in size, and increase the quality, then the web won't suck so many colors and tones out of your shots. I have this problem all the time and now I don't save anything under 75% quality. |

Try saving with the sRGB profile. I think some people have noticed a difference using that. |

Using Photoshop I saved for web, set size to 480 on long side, and then adjust quality to get under 150K, about 89% in this case.
The very same image looks great when I simply point the browser at the file in the local file system. I upload and look with the same browser, and it's washed out. I would be glad to send the file if you are willing to look at it. |

I opened and resaved with sRGB profile and it didn't seem to help. I can send the file if you are willing to look at it. |

Sure, send me the Photoshop or TIFF file.
Warning: most of the time I'm using PS 5 on a PC, so there's more than one variable involved. I can also check it on PS 7/PC and 5.5/6/7 on the Mac if we have to compare, but that might take a couple of days.
I'll try uploading it to both DPC and pBase to see if that makes any difference.

I sent the .jpg I tried to upload, saved for web, as well as the full size file. I probably should have skipped the big file now that I think about it. Hope it wasn't too large for you email or Internet connection. |

I'm still struggling with this problem.
1. I use my browser to view the file on my local system and it looks ok.
2. I updoad to dpc.
3. I view the same photo using the same browser on dpc and is lighter
with less saturation.
I thought this may be a problem with mac gamma vs pc, but that doesn't explain why the photo is different when viewed with the same monitor and using the same browser.
o Is anything done to the photos as they are updated?
o Do I need to include the ICC profile when saving for web in photoshop?
o Could this have something to do with mac using different colorsync
options for local files vs images pulled from the web?
Thanks in advance... |

Try saving with the sRGB profile. I think that's the one most browsers use, and it should make your editing software display it the same way. |
