I broke alot of ribs when I was a kid and that hurt pretty bad.
THen when I was in the army I got all sorts of stuff. Once I was so dehydrated I passed out while shooting at the fireing range(although I was not the only one). Another time I got a march fracture in my right foot one day before a three day endurance exercise.
I also got pnumonia during a two week combat excercise but I refused to go to the medic and managed for a couple of days until I finally passed out while giving orders to my group and my lance corpral had to relive me of my command. We spent that night sleeping in a hole in the snow with no heatsource and I dont think Ive ever been so cold in my life, it was around 30c below zero, we took turns sleeping, standing guard and doing pushups to fight of the cold.
Recently I injured my left arm at work, its been over three weeks and I can hardly bend it more then 10 degrees ad I cant even lift a glass.
I also have hypermobility syndrome although thats never reallt ben a problem.

I am seriously lucky in that my medical issues donĂ¢€™t get in the way of my life much. I've worked through some bad social anxiety issues, and I still have my moments. I hide most of it by being eccentric. :)
For Chronic stuff - I have Vocal Chord Disorder, so my vocal chords snap shut if anything irritates them. Not a big deal most of the time, just scary when it does happen and I will have to receive a tracheotomy if I ever need surgery. I have asthma on top of that, so I'm wheezy and can function well with an abnormally low O2 blood level. :)
The other one is undiagnosed as of right now - but its looking like it has something to do with my vaso-vascular system, and heart problems... I donĂ¢€™t know yet what the deal really is.
Most painful was when I ripped my rotator cuff and dislocated my shoulder while assisting at a car accident. Holy hell did that hurt.
Worst illness, hands down, was when I had a migraine go awry and I vomited for 7 days straight. I was MUCH to stubborn to see anyone about it until I was too weak to protest being brought to the ER. It felt like I had wrung my body out like a towel, and it took some heavy muscle relaxants to make it stop...
*add* My Hubby is reading over my shoulder and says he has me beat - he wants to say that taking his finger 3/4 of the way off with a table saw was MUCH worse than any of my above injuries. lol I have to agree with him...

When I was 4 I was running to the store to get some treats and I wiped out on the cement and ripped the whole end of my nose off. I had to get a bunch of stitches, but ended up getting nearly 60 suckers from the hospital staff from all the nurses I was nice too. :) |

Breaking my wrist slipping on ice when I was twelve was interesting. I had to have general anasthesia in order for it to be set, because the doctor said it would just be too painful without being under. My entire forearm was an odd "S" shape. Ouch.

Originally posted by karmabreeze: Originally posted by swamlove: Six months ago I started having constant stomach pains. After a week my mother made me see a doctor. It was the scariest time in my life because for two weeks I was rushed around to a ton of specialist and ultra-sounds. Non of the doctors would talk to me and my mom kept telling me it was nothing but I asked if I could miss an appointment for a presentation at school and she freaked out as if I was dying.
After missing almost 3 weeks of school and seeing about 5 doctors and two ultra-sound specialists they told me that I simply had two ovarian cysts. They told me they'd go away & the pain is bearable. I see the doctor once a month and I'm on crazy pain medication. I just hope that all parents, well adults realize that kids need to be informed. |
Ooh, I've got one of those I'm dealing with right now, and they put me on birth control to treat it. Luckily mine is fairly mild and is little more than an annoyance, but it showed up at the same time as a mild stomach virus and a whole lot of stress, so I was pretty sick for most of July while everything got straightened out. My sister had them so terrible in college that she wound up in the ER three or four times before someone finally figured it out. Same prescription for her as mine and she's been fine ever since, but is scared of what's going to happen when she goes off the BCP to get pregnant (as she is now married). |
The doctors keep telling me that if the pains don't stop that they'll put me on the bcp. The pains haven't stopped and they keep holding off from putting me on it. :-( |
