the Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G VR.
There is one I'm looking at and wanted some opinions from anyone that has used one or has one. Price asked from seller is $450 US.
Thanks.

not too bad from what i remember. 24-120 is a pretty wide range, personally i'd stick to lenses that are meant for one thing: ie telephoto, 85 mm portrait, 50 mm ect.
but 450 sounds like a fair price if its in good shape.

I wouldn't buy it, but that's just me.
I'm pretty sure it got widely mixed reviews.
I know the 18-200 VR is more expensive, but it's a much better lens..and where it really shines is that it's much more versatile. I personally think that in no time at all, you won't even touch the lens.
The only two lenses you really need are (Nikon or Tokina 12-24 OR Sigma 10-20) and (Sigma 70-200 2.8 with or without teleconverter).
Anything else is more specialty in my opinion....there's nothing wrong with having some specialty stuff if you have a reason for it...but like I said, that 24-120 just doesn't fit no matter what use you think you'll have for it now.

I have the 18-200 VR and love it. I think you should save a little more and get the wider range lens. I rarely take this lens off my camera. When I do, it is to shoot macro with my 105mm f2.8 .

Thanks everyone. I ended up going ahead with the purchase for quite a bit less than the $450 us on ebay. It's a perfect lens (I think) for me as I do quite a bit of low light work (concerts with stage lights etc) and I think between the reach and range of it coupled with the 50 mm 1.8 I have coming I should be able to cover all my bases.
Still would welcome any other opinions/experiences.
The 18-200 VR was simply just too much $$ right now to just "try it on" and see if it was what I needed. The price was definitely right for the lens.
Thanks again.
