Ok...I know what I'm getting (350D, 50mm 1.8, Tamrom 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical, memory card) and have my credit card in my hand.

I'm going to get the lenses from B&H, and was planning on the camera body as well....But newegg.com has the body for $629.99 with $6.34 3-day shipping...while B&H sells it for $649.99 and the shipping is about $11.

Is it worth the extra penny to go with B&H due to their reputability?...or is newegg.com trustworthy as well?

Thanks for the help!

Personally I buy from 47th Street Photo among others through Amazon.com. Even if the vendor won't take care of you, Amazon will. My opinion would be that B&H is completely overrated, and that you should save yourself the cash and order from newegg.com. They have a long standing, very good reputation. Now that you are into SLR photography you'll need every penny you can get.

BTW, Amazon has your Tamron for $374 on super discount today with free shipping. They also have your 50mm f/1.8 for $74. Your deal on the body from newegg beats Amazon by 2 dollars. Don't limit yourself to B&H when Amazon has an equal reputation for backing your order and the quality of the item. They will also fully refund you for anything you simply don't like.

thanks for the info!
B&H does have a $30 rebate ( I think it's still going ) on the 28-75, bringing the price to $349.99

B&H is a good place to buy but they are not always cheaper.

However, if you try to save money by buying items from different stores, I don't think that works very well. It is sometime more convenient to just order everything from one store and pay only one shipping price.

At B&H the sandisk 2Gig Compact flash card has a $20 rebate. It is a very nice card.

thanks slickchik, I'll check that out.

hmm, amazon has opened up many more possibilities :) 17th street photo has the 28-75 for $359.89 but doesn't mention the rebate.....on B&H it is a printout, manufacturers rebate....does this mean I would still be able to purchase it from Amazon and use this rebate form? Also, J&R has the lens for $369...but a $30 rebate through Amazon for using Visa or something..
