Dear DPC Administration:

I must strongly protest this weeks topic, "At Rest".("Your subject should be placed, seated, or lying stably, with a feeling of calm to the shot.") It's not bad enough that we have to put up with all the constant picture taking but to give an excuse like this is to abuse our good and patient nature. This is WAY beyond what we as a group are willing to put up with.

Be forewarned I have sent a communication through our network and as of tomorrow you will no longer be able to type, read, have a meal, do a load of wash, or go to the bathroom without our interference.

I'm sorry to take such drastic measures but you have left us no choice!

Ah, so to score well this week we must shoot a sleeping cat/dog/insect without a sleeping cat/dog/insect in the frame. Glad we got that cleared up nice and early ; )

So, what if I post a cat sleeping taken from another cat's perspective?

OK. Anyone posting a cat/dog/insect picture but giving a 1 to any other post of a cat/dog/insect picture due to the subject matter but not the technical merit or creativity with which said picture (of the first part) was created should expect a 1. Should said rater give a higher than average rating (eg. 7+) to a cat/dog/insect picture based on the subject matter rather than the technical merit or creativity with which the composition was created while posting a cat/dog/insect photo should, similarly, expect a lower than average score (eg. 3-). In the unlikely event that a DPC photo poster (not the paper-based photographic type but the carbon-based life form) should post a non-cat/dog/insect photo while simultaneously scoring cat/dog/insect photos incommensurately based on the technical merit and/or creativity of said cat/dog/insect photo, that poster (carbon-based human) should expect to receive a mid to low range score (eg. 3-5). Should these three eventualities fail and a poster of a non-cat/dog/insect photo have the temerity to score a cat/dog/insect photo higher than average with no thought given to technical composition or creativity of design, then that grader should expect to receive moderate marks (eg. 4-7). In the event that I re-read this post and can't decide what the heck I meant OR I can't tell what or why others voted in the manner they chose I will, from necessity, not be able to penalize any other photograph posters and, thus, will grade solely on the merits of each photograph.

so,if I find a bee sleeping in a flower that has fallen on a comatose cat which is lying next to a baby napping on a bible....

that fit's the challenge but will recieve a negative 13 irregardless if it is accepted for the national archives as being historically significant because of the cat?

ok, I can live with that.

Wrap it in a flag, and you get bonus negative points.

(...must remember to read to the end of the thread before responding...)
