It wasn't a great photo. I know that. It has plenty of problems, like amputated limbs and a busy background, none of which could be helped under the conditions I had, and the girls were moving (imagine that, movement in an action challenge!) so fast that keeping them in frame was really difficult. But the comments about there not being any motion? They bother me. It's hula! It's in her hips! And lo and behold, where do you see motion blur?? *sigh* Grrrr, you blind people! :P

I see the motion in the hips.

I guess the pic doesn't really fit the general person's concept of "action". That's all I can think of. I didn't vote in this challenge, but I definitely can see it's relation to the topic.

Yeah that would bother me also especially at times when you see others do better while stretching the theme to the max yet manages to avoid those comments.

I wonder how well a photo of a troll getting a swift kick in the nuts would have scored? :-)

Karmabreeze...I completely understand your anger.

My photo got a couple of DNMC's too and it irks the hell out of me. Okay technicalwise, I experimented and tried to overcontrast it for an exaggerated effect and that didn't work well with most people. I can live with that. But someone please tell me how A soldier firing a machine gun is not action?

Hmm, I guess I can possibly maybe perhaps see how someone wouldn't see the action in your shot. I mean, it is somewhat difficult to determine that he's actually firing his weapon. For all most people would know, he's just sitting there. But I don't really see why you received so many DMNC's. Seems like there's been a ridiculous amount of overly strict interpretations of challenge descriptions the past couple weeks.

maybe next time, put the camera on a tripod, lower the shutter, shoot landscape, and focus on the HIPS. if movement is your subject, make the image focus on the movement, and eliminate the distracting detail that might make the viewers/voters question what you're after.
