I'm moving my stuio out of my too small basement into a spare room upstairs and will be painting the walls. I remember a suggestion some time back to have gray studio walls, and I know that some folks (cindi comes to mind) use white. I might buy paint tomorrow... does anyone here have experience with other than white studio walls? |

White, grey, black... just as long as it's neutral, so not to cause color casts.

Oh yeah I'll be trying ALL those options! You should see the dark green I'll be covering, gonna take two or three coats at least.
So it doesn't really matter then Leroy? Alright then... thanks you three for the (ha ha) help! |

No worries Nova. And I still think my suggestion was the best...or maybe the most liveliest...except when coupled with a hangover.
Hey...how about we run a competition to see what colour Nova should paint his walls...could be interesting...hehehehehe!!

White will work, because it can help supplement for lighting if you don't have a powerful light setup or can be handy to bounce flash off of.
Black works well if you want total control of your light, no reflections.
Grey is kind of a compromise between those two options.
I wouldn't paint studio walls any color that wasn't neutral.

The room that I use for a studio has red walls. It makes for fun "white" photos. :) |

Looks like a nice sized space. You'll be much more comfortable working there I'm sure.

Yeah the main problem with the basement was having room to move my lights. Learn as you go, ya know. |

Man, you be crazy! (but we all knew that already huh) I think I'll pass (Pleeze don't be hurt:)
Here's the basement I've been using as it sits tonight. The backdrop is 10 feet across so I never imagined it would be too tight in there.
Someday I hope to get to the place you are cindi. Thanks all! White or gray... white or gray.... I'll have to sleep on that.
