I'm suprised to see no one has commented on the new MacPro announced yesterday. Comments? Thoughts?
I think it is going to be a beast. I'm saving my pennies :-)

I was just playing in Apple's store, and configured myself a system with the new Mac. I was up to about $6,500 before I closed the window. A terabyte of storage, a few bazillion gigs of RAM, fast video, second monitor, whatever. I'll be buying a new camera long before I invest in a new mac.

Big time Mac user, but until Adobe releases CS3 with Intel support I'll stick to my 2 Ghz dual processor tower for now.
According to Adobe, CS3 will come out next year.
I may get a new Mac Mini for the living room soon to hook up to the TV and sound system.
Glad to see they are getting back to a 64 bit OS. I thought it was a step back when Apple made the switch to Intel to go back to a 32 bit OS. Didn't get much press though.
Leopard looks sweet though. I really like OS X and iLife. |

I think even the base model would perform nicely, though $2500 is still a LARGE chunk of change. Unfortunately too large for me :-(

| Note that a 2Ghz MacPro Quad is $1962 for qualified students, teachers and staff. |

I'll bet even unqualified teachers can buy one! ;-) |

It definitely looks to be a great computer, now let's hope that Adobe hurries up with PS CS3 so the Mac OS version of Photoshop can make good use of the Intel processors.
I wish I could afford one, but I think I'm going to buy the next MacBook Pro instead (when I can afford it). |
