I took a photo on August 3rd at about 2:30pm and today I finally got around to editing the shot. When I go into the directory on my computer where the original photo is stored and hover my mouse over the picture name, it says the photo was taken on August 2nd at 10:59pm. I checked my camera, which is a Canon Rebel XT, and the date and time are both correct. Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks,

Is that the time that you have uploaded it to your computer. Did you modify it. The new time and date will show up. |

Likeliest explanation is that the hover shows the time of uploading and your computer time/date data are off. You need to check the EXIF data on the image itself to see if the time/date are correct there.

The date/time are both correct on my computer as well, that's what makes this so strange. |

Well, check your EXIF and see what THAT says ok? According to what you've said, the hover is showing input data EARLIER than you shot the picture, way strange.

Are you hovering in Photoshop or just the Windows directory? There's an update to Photoshop CS2 that's needed to get the same date your camera has. It's on their webpage, I believe. |

I checked the exif data in Photoshop, and it says the shot was taken August 5th and then modified on August 2nd, when I actually took the photo on the 3rd. I know that it was taken taken on the 3rd for sure, because I took it on the drive home from my vacation, and I drove home on the 3rd. I double checked the camera again this afternoon and the date and time are both correct.
Is there a chance that something is wrong with my camera?

I suspect you drove through a warp in the time/space continuum on your way home from vacation....
But yes, you may want to have your camera checked just in case. Or do a simple test and try again and see what you get when you shoot today. |

That's the most logical explanation :-)

You said you took the shot on the drive home.
Were you driving one of these?

e=mc2 so if you maybe got above the speed of light you may have screwed up the dates on the image.
